A native West Texan, Dr. Russell Liles was born in Abilene and graduated from Clyde High School. After a long absence from the Big Country, Dr. Liles decided it was time to get back to his roots. He opened Elite Eyecare in 2018 with a focus on quality eye care, great customer service, and sports vision training for athletes of all ages.
Dr. Liles attended Texas A&M University in College Station. While attending Texas A&M he held leadership roles in several on-campus organizations including a 2-time counselor in A&M’s freshman orientation camp (Fish Camp) and president of the Aggie Optometry Association. In 2010 he earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M in Biomedical Science with a minor in Business.
Following his undergraduate degree, Dr. Liles pursued his doctorate in Optometry at the University of Houston College of Optometry. While attending UHCO he was elected as the social chair of his class and enjoyed planning and organizing social events for his fellow optometry schoolmates. He developed an interest in a specialty known as Sports Vision. This interest prompted him to start a Sports Vision organization at UHCO. He served as the president of the organization bringing in several speakers, who specialize in sports vision, to share their experiences and give insight to the student members of the organization.
Currently Dr. Liles is an active member in many professional organizations including the American Optometric Association, the AOA Sports Vision Section, and the International Sports Vision Association. Dr. Liles is also involved in several community organizations such as Abilene Young Professionals (AYP), Abilene A&M Club, and the Make a Wish Foundation. In his spare time Dr. Liles enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, listening to live music, watersports, and rooting for the Aggies.
